Medical assistants are on the front lines of patient care and may even have more patient contact than other members of the medical team. Globe University/Minnesota School of Business (GU/MSB) Richfield offers two programs that give people the skills and training they need to be successful medical assistants.
Contact our Richfield campus at 800-752-4223 to learn about our medical assistant programs. A representative can answer your questions about financial aid, program requirements and the admissions process.
Career opportunities for medical assistants
Medical assistants provide patient care in doctor’s offices, clinics and hospitals. They also receive the training for success in careers such as the following:
- Limited scope radiology technicians
- Lab technicians
- Office administrators and managers
- Medical coding specialists
- Patient records managers
In small offices, a medical assistant may perform multiple duties, providing variety and the opportunity to explore the career more fully.
Growing opportunities for medical assistants
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that job opportunities in this field will grow faster than average. Graduates of both medical assisting programs are qualified to take certification exams such as the Certified Medical Assistant exam, offered by the American Association of Medical Assistants, and the Limited Scope of Practice in Radiology exam given by the ARRT. These are credentials that employers value. We encourage students to apply for the Profesional Certification Scholarship to defray the cost of certification xaminations.
