Eligible students at Globe University/Minnesota School of Business (GU/MSB) Richfield, MN, may receive financial aid through state and federal loan and grant programs. Applications for these programs are either processed through the school or by submitting the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Primary sources of loans and grants for students at GU/MSB-Richfield
Grants
- Federal Pell Grant program. This gift aid is based on financial need. Students may receive from $400 to $4731 per year.
- MN Grant Program. This gift aid is based on financial need. It is available to undergraduate students with Minnesota residence. Students may receive from $100 to $6322 per year.
- Federal Supplement Education Opportunity Grant (SEOG). This grant is based on financial need and is awarded by the institution. A student may receive from $800 to $1600 per year.
- Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG). This is available to high school graduates who have participated in a rigorous high school program. They must maintain a fulltime credit load and a 3.0 GPA while in college. The program awards $750 in the first year and $1300 in the second year of college.
- National Science and Math Access to Retain Talent (SMART) Grant. This is available to third and fourth year students in the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology degree program.
Loans
- Federal Stafford Loan/Subsidized and Unsubsidized. This is a long-term, low interest loan based on need. Payment is deferred until six months after the student leaves school or attends less than half time. The loan amount is up to $3500 the first year, $4500 the second year and up to $5500 the third and fourth years.
- Federal Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS). This is a long-term, low interest loan for parents of dependent undergraduates. The amount awarded is up to need as demonstrated by the FAFSA.
- Alternative Loan Programs. These loans are privately funded. Repayment can be deferred while the student is in school at least half-time. The student can receive amounts equal to tuition, fees and book costs.
- Educational Opportunities Loan program. These loans are available to students who have been denied a privately funded alternative loan. Students can borrow up to the direct cost of education, or $7500 per year. The program requires monthly interest repayment while the student is still in school.
